Retrogrados Gaming was founded in 2023 by a small team of retro gaming enthusiasts who were tired of the same problem every collector knows too well: spending hours hunting for working ROMs across sketchy websites, dealing with broken downloads, malware risks, and disorganized files.
What started as a personal project to organize a private retro gaming library quickly turned into something bigger. As we shared our collection with friends and the wider community, demand grew, and we realized there was a real need for a trustworthy, well-curated alternative to the chaos of public ROM sites.
Today, Retrogrados Gaming serves a global community of handheld gaming enthusiasts who value reliability, organization, and professional support over endless searching and gambling with file integrity.
Why We Built This Service
The mission is simple: Give retro gaming enthusiasts a clean, professional, reliable way to access classic gaming content for their handheld devices, without the headaches of public ROM sites.
We started with our own Steam Deck and quickly expanded to support every major handheld platform that emerged: ROG Ally, Legion Go, AYN Odin 2, and Android emulation devices. Each platform comes with its own quirks, frontends, and configuration challenges, and we've built our libraries to work seamlessly with all of them.
Our infrastructure runs on Google Drive, which means our users get download speeds limited only by their own internet connection. No throttling, no waiting in queues, no broken mirrors. It's the same standard we wanted for ourselves.

The beginning
Retrogrados Gaming launches with a focus on Batocera-compatible collections for Steam Deck users. First customers come from the Spanish-speaking handheld gaming community.
Expansion across platforms
Support extends to ROG Ally, Windows handhelds via RetroBat, and Android devices. Library grows to 50+ platforms. Community reaches 500 active members.
Infrastructure maturity
Migration to dedicated Google Workspace infrastructure for centralized access management. Switch ROM collection becomes the flagship offering with weekly updates.
Today
Serving 1,100+ customers globally, with content packs ranging from 5TB to 20TB and ongoing weekly updates. Active community of 200+ members in our WhatsApp group provides peer support.
